So we have made the claim that Mario is Joseph Stalin, but where is the proof of this?
Whenever Mario finishs a level he follows a certain pattern, first he lowers the flag that is in place. After that he enters the castle and a flag goes up on the top of the castle. Look closely at the flag that "Mario" is lowering, it looks very farimilar, in fact some may say it bares a striking resemblance to the Peace Sign. I for one find it a little odd that a hero is lowering a peace flag. However, this evedince isn't really all that strong I mean you could also say that the flag looks like a skull as well.
Now what's a lot more interesting is the flag that Mario raises. There is no mistaking that, that IS a red star. Mario is supposedly Italian and the Italians do have a star for there coat of arms. Yes, a nice... white star. There was one country that had a red star as their coat of arms. You guessed it, the good old Soviet Union.
It's no mystery what Mario's favorite color is, anyone who has played a Mario game at all can tell you that, but it's not like it is all that unusually I mean lots of people like red! So what? Does it matter that this is the main color of the Soviet Union? Not really I mean it's not like it covers his whole body or anything...or does it?
Grab a Fire Flower and look what happens, everything that was once brown is now red.
The only part of Mario that isn't red at one time or another is his skin. He sure does like red...
 
These two seem to bare a very striking resemblance, maybe it's just the mustache... I mean Mario just an 8-bit drawing it's not like you can really make out what he looks like...
Who knows? maybe It's just a coincidance.
Now it's time for some trivia! Do you know what countries are most known for the picking of mushrooms? Italy? No not really, actually Slavic countries are know for having "family mushroom hunts" Slavic countries include: Ukraine and Russia. So the general area is around the USSR (Soviet Union). So, then is the "Mushroom Kingdom" in Italy? Not really sure myself...
Remember this is all speculation, I am not saying that Mario is Joseph Stalin. I'm just saying that something just aren't right.
